Hassan O. Rashid is a seasoned banking leader with over 31 years of experience in corporate banking, credit risk management, SME and retail banking, distinguished by his strategic leadership and track record in business transformation and sustainable growth.

Before joining Eastern Bank as CEO on 19 April 2026, he led a significant turnaround at Prime Bank, delivering 60% balance sheet growth and a 285% increase in profit after tax without increasing headcount. He also spearheaded the launch of “Prime Now,” a digital banking platform developed in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). Previously, as Additional Managing Director of EBL from 2016 to 2021, he oversaw Corporate and Commercial Banking, Treasury, Information Technology, Special Asset Management and subsidiary companies. During his tenure, the Bank expanded its international presence and introduced innovative financial instruments, including Commercial Paper, Zero Coupon Bonds and Preference Shares.

Early in his career he worked with leading international banks, including Standard Chartered Bank, HSBC and Credit Agricole Indosuez, where he gained extensive experience in SME banking and energy and infrastructure financing.

Mr. Rashid holds a Master of International Management from Thunderbird, USA, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Capital University, Ohio. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB).
